Uplands priovides a unique service to people who are not medically unable to leave hospital, yet not well enough, be that physically or mentally, to go home or to their usual place of residence; an essential stepping stone for many.
Uplands Rehabilitation Centre in Westcliff-on-Sea is an innovative and unique 17 bed service providing short stay therapy led rehabilitation and re-enablement services to people following events such as Strokes, Accidents, Acquired Brain Injuries or Orthopaedic problems.
The centre provides comprehensive assessment, rehabilitation and therapy services for male and female adults and throughout their stay with us, our patients are encouraged to make individual choices about all aspects of life at the centre and to be as independent as possible. The centre employs a physiotherapist, occupational health therapist, speech and language therapist and psychotherapist.
Each of our residents has a rehabilitation programme, which is formally reviewed on a weekly basis and where appropriate, decisions are made using the metrics derived from tools such as the Barthel Scale and GAS Scoring amonst others.
Uplands will generally only provide a short term placement for people who have an expected functional rehabilitation outcome.
